Now I regret my decision on purchasing a sony product. My friends who is using the same model also faced the same issue and since there product was in warranty period they got it replaced for free of costbut in my case my TV is not under warranty and if I would have to change the display I have to pay a heavy amount of 24, INR.
For the same amount I can purchase a brand new TV, and if in case I replace the display what is the guarantee that the display will come for more than 3 years since the warranty of the display is only for 1 year. The Display charge is too high for a common man it is very difficult to replace the display. And I want to know whether any solution can be given for my case.
I am also facing the same issuetheir is no issue upto 2. Reading rajiv issue i am worried 24 k is tooo much for me as well. Its a manufacturing defect by sony company loosing trust on this brand.
Yes lot of people are facing this issue, I have shared a facebook postwere you can see many consumers are facing same problem, even you can share your tv condition to that post. Please read my facebook post and add your TV condition to the above link. Due to proximity, they are in a better position to respond to your questions or concerns.
Since I'm not getting a call or response from Sony India I am taking my issue to a wider audienceand I can now say that it 's not only me who is facing this issue with sony display panelyou can check my Fb post or image which i have attached. Since you are representing sonyyou take my case in priority and please do the needful.
When approached service center they say it's display problem and needs to be replaced, which costs 24k and it's too costly for that amount I will get a new TV and they do not have concept of repairing it, just replace and done.
On my further research found that this lining issue can be repaired by Panel Bounding in which they replace the COF chips on the display which could resolve the display issue but there no COF chip available in market for this TV model. It be helpful if Sony can proved those chips for the mentioned model or give details where we can buy these chips.
Probably the other customers how are facing this problem can try doing bounding repair of their TV. I have exactly same problem but on half of the screen, that too exactly after three years.
My Sony Bravia's screen is black, how can I fix this?
And they are charging for full display panel which cost around 25, Pathetic experience with Sony, technician visited, changed motherboard and tcon board and finally concluded that this problem is of screen display panel.
Initially I thought that may be I am the only unlucky one having this panel problem but after googling up I see this is a generic issue. This has to be a manufacturing defect caused by either use of low grade panel or poor panel to board connecting material or something else.
And perhaps Sony got to know about this so they stopped manufactuering of this. But Mr. Sony what about the people who purchased this series, just on the basis of trust on your name — SONY. Why didn't you made a callback to sold models? Take example of Volkswagon or even Maruti. Suzuki when the companies came to know about a manufacturing defect in their models of their cars. They made a callback to customers to take back the defective cars and provide replacements bearing all the expense themselves.
Does a. Why cant u do the same when u knw abt ur product? Or is it that you manufactured the poor quality TV on purpose with an aim of making high profit??? If you really want to gainback trust of the customers you must consider this case seriously. See the number of people suffering from the problem Mr. We regret to hear about what happened to your television. At times it powers on at only half of the brightness for a 20 seconds or so and then goes completely black like it is turned off.
I do not know what I should be looking for or how to diagnose these TV problems.
Do you think that replacing the power boards would be a good place to start? Maybe I need to open up the TV and start to check to see if the capacitors are okay?
Where do I even get these TV repair replacement parts? Please help. The issue could be related to a bad capacitor or capacitors. Maybe 10 years ago there was a Chinese capacitor supplier company selling faulty and low quality caps.
Your TV may have these. First: Open up the TV case unplugged of course and look for a bulging or leaking capacitor. If you see any that are leaking or fat and bulging, replace them. If you find no bad caps, you could replace the complete circuit board but that may be more than the TV is worth.
Some of these issues are common on Samsung, Sony, Vizio, and Toshiba. Here are some places to buy caps and circuit boards for replacement HDTV parts. Horizontal lines usually indicates a defective screen not a bad t-con board.
TV repair — Vertical lines on flat panel TV. Do you have experience in fixing these types of TV issues? Please leave a comment below. Tagged as: lcd tv has linesmy tv has lines across the topmy tv has lines going through itsamsungsonytoshibatv has lines on screentv has lines running through itvizio. The problem i have was originally caused from having it wall mounted i think, where i got a full screen of blue vertical bars.
After taking it down and went to throw it out i tested it again just for the sake of it and it works perfectly but when i turn it off and on the blue bars return and have to wait a good couple of hours before its good to go again what could be the problem.
Its vertical lines black and white color. So far it took turning it off and back on twice until it finally corrected itself. Or is it something that can be repaired fairly simply? I recently observed a distorted horizontal line that runs through the screen. How can I fix this? I have a 65 inches Samsung curved smart tv. After I saw the black vertical line I Google to find out what is the caused and how to fix it.
I followed what was explained on your website, I noticed the vertical black line stay appears on the screen no matters I changed hdmi it still appears. Please I need your assistance, thank you. Samsung 32 LED TV,white and black vertical lines always on screen with audio,no video at all,on channel change lines sifted left right.
I won this in a raffle!
Had it about a year, things progressing swimmingly, when I decided I Needed a set of infrared headphones. Got the headphones and went to plug the receiver unit on into the back of the tv, so I laid it over screen side down and it rested on the corner of a hinge that I was going to replace at the barn. Well now the volume works, I can hear the shows but all I have for a picture is long uneven jagged color lines. My 32 inch sony bravia all the sudden has a almost translucent thick whitish line its on the right hand side of the tv.
Is this a repairable problem? Or is it going to die soon. Remove and swap all devices that use the set to determine if a device or the set has a defect. Try other discs or players or tuners you may have to rule out faulty sources or program discs. If the set is operating as a standalone, perhaps with cable or satellite, contact the provider to ask about any issues you are not aware of. Calling Sony might be quicker. If you can remove ALL sources and it goes away you have a start and add the basics one at a time and then in groups, working up until you find the problem.
Working the set without any cables attached can possibly tell you if the display itself is bad.
Flat Screen TV Has Lines Going Through Screen – Possible Bad Component? – How To Repair My TV?
If a warranty or extended warranty is in force certain features may be serviced at low or no cost to you and store warranties may require you to send the set to an authorized service center, which may not be near you or may involve shipping. Calling Sony, one of these service centers or even a trusted repair center or retailer that sells them your seller before other dealers will help a lot.
I have no idea if your set is terminal but when treated well LCD displays should operate a good while barring a poor design?
I do know that you should puchase a screen protector as you would for a bigscreen projection set to avoid scratches and damages from pets and curious tots. Pressure against the video display panel can cause permanent damage to a lot of the pixel units or scattered dots on the screen where they are ruined.
The only way to get rid of that is to replace the panel and that's probably time to get a new set most of the time. LCD TVs are so relatively popular that you should be able to consult a consumer publication like Consumer Reports and find updates from actual users of the set and find any long term expected problems with the set or getting them serviced.
I doubt it's dying, but to make sure If the white line does NOT disappear, it's time to get the TV diagnosed to see how much it will cost to repair Believe me, you don't just Chuck the TV set because of a white line A white smear huh? I would most likely take it to the shop, but you might want to try a light detergent, just use a bit of hand soap nothing harsh like dial. The tv might have burn in. You can't fix burn in. If the white line is on when the tv is off its definitly burn in.
Answer Save. Please find the model number located on your set to locate all information for that model availble either online or by calling them. Look to see if there are any entries for your model in News and Alerts, especially if you use other Sony products with it such as Bravia Link as there may by instructions on how to cure certain operating problems between Sony devices.

Sony bravia lcd with thick white line?
I first noticed a thin purple vertical line running straight down the screen while playing GTA4 on my PS3. It wasn't there constantly and soon went away so I didn't think of it again. However it happened a few days later again, then didn't see it for a few weeks. I thought maybe it was the game. It's about 8. Any ideas? Am I the only person to have had this problem? I've contacted Sony but they havn't got back to me and when I followed the link to update my enquiry it said that it had expired So I've contacted them again! How to Fix LED LCD TV (Sony KDL50W800C) with horizontal / Vertical lines problem on the screen
I've taken a picture of the purple line in question, it's quite faint but is alot more noticable in person RottenFox Distinguished Member. GuestOfHonour Active Member. Any update on this? I've got a similar problem on my 42pz85 plasma. A vertical white line on the rhs of the screen and all the colours are inverted. Again the problem is intermittent. Tried a variety of hdmi cables and I'm about to test the ps3 on another tv tomorrow.
I did notice that the problem started to happen a couple of ps3 updates ago - although this may just be coincidence. Hey, sorry I've not been on for awhile. I had the purple line on my screen for about two weeks solid, I then went on holiday for two weeks and when I come back and turned it on the line had gone.
It has come back once for about 5 or 10 seconds but other than that I've not seen the line for well over a month now. It would be just my luck that It'll come back a day after the warranty expires haha.
I guess theres no point sending it to be looked at if nothing is currently wrong with it though. Oztig Active Member. My KDLD now does this permanently. Last edited: Aug 6, TV has vertical colored lines on the screen. This is a common issue with many TVs. Vertical colored lines usually show on a TV screen when the T-Con board is not working properly. Many times this can simply be caused from wiring that is not securely fastened. Other times the T-Con Board itself may be faulty and need to be replaced.
A loose wire or bad T-Con board is explained below. See here for info on how to diagnose and fix a cracked TV screen.
When a TV is showing vertical colored lines, a loose wire cable in the TV might be the cause. This is a sign that a cable is loose or the T-Con board is faulty.
If so, you may simply have a loose wiring cable. This is not a permanent solution, but may prevent the vertical colored lines from showing temporarily. To fix this permanently, you need to troubleshoot the issue and find out which wiring harness may be loose, faulty or damaged. If you suspect a loose cable within your TV, you will need to open up the TV and secure the cable and check the T-Con board.
To do this safely and without damaging your TV, please see the video below for how to open a tv panel…. If you find no loose wiring cables in your TV, then the T-Con board is most likely at fault.
Here is how to remove and replace your Television T-Con board…. Timing Control Board 1. Write down the brand of the television 2. Unscrew the back cover of the TV 5. Locate the screws on back or side of tv panel usually 8 to 10 screws 6.Deals Amazon deals Bargain threads Classified adverts.
Worst in top left corner. See picture. For some Karaoke of all things! But cannot be sure if this caused it. Any ideas or is it back to Sony under the guarantee?
Thanks Simms! Finally returned TV to supplier www. Only problem is that I am without a TV for weeks. Hi, Sorry to hear this. DEAN0 said:. Sorry to dig up an old thread but what was the final result of this? I have the same set and it has just started with the same lines but in the top right of the screen. I just need some advice from people with more knowledge than me The TV works fine, good colour, sound and all functions work. It just has these dark thin lines covering the screen. They are spaced about 7mm apart from top to bottom horizontaly even showing through menu text etc. What makes me think it may be the board at fault rather than the panel is because the lines are so uniform.
I can replace the main board fairly cheaply with some effort, but would I be wasting my time?
If anyone can give me a definitive answer to whether the board or the panel has gone, if its the panel its heading for the dump :- Thanks. Jan 25, 2. Hello, Can you post a picture of the screen? I have seen that there are bright lines over the screen, but no dark lines. C7M2B likes this. Jan 25, 3. Last edited by a moderator: Jan 25, Jan 25, 4.
Hello, This is a digital TV. Jan 25, 5. Hi Bertus, I dont use the tuner, I havent watched TV for a decade, I use an external android box and watch youtube and use google etc.
The screenshot is the inbuilt software I do not use, i used that image to get a clear view of the lines, the lines are there with any input, even when there is no signal fuzz image on the tuner section. The drivers are up to date for the TV software. Here is an image of bigclivedotcom making a babybel lamp lol, you can see the lines overlaying the image. Jan 25, 6. Hello, Do the dark lines also show when you use an other source as input?
I assume there are more inputs. Jan 25, 7. Hi, Yes they are there all the time, even through the OSD. Im new to installing electronics work, but work on watches so am methodical.
Im trying to save the hours of work and fifty quid if I can, but have not seen this issue anywhere else online or youtube etc. Also I noticed there is a quiet squeek or bleep coming from the back of the tv on power up, I never recall this happening before the lines appeared.
Yesterday I disassembled the set and cleaned all the lead contacts etc and put it back together, same lines no change. Last edited: Jan 25, Jan 25, 8.
